#1 Retaining Walls in Lewis & Cowlitz County

Eco-block and MSE walls that hold back the hill and keep water moving.

intro

Rockridge builds retaining walls that turn steep ground into usable space and protect structures from sliding soil. We build eco-block (ecology block) walls and mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) walls to engineering details, with the footing, drainage and backfill a wall needs to last.

From residential slopes to commercial sites and landslide repair, we serve Toledo, Chehalis, Centralia, Mossyrock, Winlock, Castle Rock, Kelso, Longview and the surrounding area.

What’s included

  • Eco-block (ecology block) walls

  • MSE walls with geogrid reinforcement

  • Excavation and footing preparation

  • Drain rock, drain pipe and filter fabric behind the wall

Our process

  1. Site visit: we measure the slope and look at soils and water.

  2. Engineering: we work from your engineer's design or help you get one when required.

  3. Excavation and footing: dug to plan and prepared for the first course.

  4. Build: block set or boulder, reinforcement placed, drainage installed.

Retaining Wall FAQ

Do I need an engineer for a retaining wall? Walls Taller than 4 ft supporting a driveway, building or slope usually need engineering and a permit. Height limits vary by jurisdiction, so we check with the county or city for your site.

What is an eco-block wall? Eco-blocks are large interlocking concrete blocks. They're strong, quick to install and well suited to tall walls and commercial sites.

What is an MSE wall? A mechanically stabilized earth wall uses layers of geogrid reinforcement in compacted backfill, tied to the wall face. It's a cost-effective way to build tall walls.

Why do retaining walls fail? Most often from water pressure behind the wall. That's why we install drain rock, pipe and fabric on every wall.
